J.R. Morgan

J.R. brings 18 years of experience in investment management and securities law, with deep expertise across investments, fund formation, regulatory and compliance matters, manager M&A and complex litigation.
Most recently, he served as Senior Counsel for Investments and Head of Litigation in the Investment Management Division of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas. In that role, J.R. advised on institutional investment activity across all asset classes and oversaw global portfolio of securities litigation assets.
Prior to moving in-house, J.R. spent the majority of his career in private practice. He was a partner and head of the investment management practice at Andrews Kurth LLP (now Hunton Andrews Kurth), founded a successful investment management law firm, Morgan LLP, and began his legal career as an investment management associate in the New York and London offices of Schulte Roth & Zabel.
Before entering the legal profession, J.R. worked as an equities analyst at Beekman Capital Management.
J.R. earned his law degree from UCLA School of Law and holds undergraduate degrees in economics and environmental science from Evergreen State College. He is admitted to practice law in England and Wales, New York and Texas.
